Last Days in Paradise: Rural Hut

Work continues on the scenery and figures for my Caribbean based Last Days: A Zombie Apocalypse setting. This is a jungle hut from Sarrissa Pression that I found in the loft. Originally I painted it for use with my Burma armies, but it suffered some damage in storage and needed a new roof, and some love.

I built a new roof with card and corrugated craft card, added broken windows and a door, then repainted the whole thing in a brighter caribbean colour scheme. I added jungle plants to the base from my 'big box of stuff'.

I imagine this is a rural shack belonging to a farmer or a hunter that you might come across in the islands 'jungle', or along a little used dirt track. It's anyone's guess what happened to the original inhabitants, but that blood stain on the floor might give some clue as to their fate.

Superhero Kickstarter: Supers Unlimited Miniatures

My old mate and long time gaming buddy Leon (AKA Pulp Citizen) has launched his own Kickstarter, in the guise of Kitbash Games, to hopefully produce his own range of 28mm four colour superheroes and villains.

Leon is a lifelong comic book fan with an encyclopedic knowledge of supers-goings-on, and as well as a games developer. He was instrumental in running Pulp City's two VERY successful Kickstarter, so you can be assured the Kitbash Kickstarter will be professionally managed, and that the figures will be first class superhero goodness.

Leon has pulled together a team of some of the best sculptures in the business and produced some fantastic original sculpts. I have been lucky enough to see some of the greens and CAD renders, and I can promise you they are lovely!

If you like comics, and like gaming, then you must check out the Supers Unlimited Kickstarter. Too good to miss. If you play Pulp City then you are in luck, as the Supers Unlimited figures come with Pulp City character cards so you can use the in you games too! Brilliant!

Last Days in Paradise: Outlaw MC

I have decided to set my Zombie apocalypse (using Last Days) on a Caribbean Island (I am calling it Last Days in Paradise). This is mostly because I have lots of Jungle terrain and I should be able to reuse some of the terrain and figures I painted for my modern African (Zugando) setting.

While waiting for some figures to arrive from Northstar and Foundry I went rummaging in the loft and found these guys. A quick rebase and a touch up and I have the start of a gang.
The back story (which explains why there are four white Outlaw MC on a caribbean island) goes as follows...When the shit hit the fan in mainland USA the Outlaws were well set up with safehouses, guns and ammo. That didn't stop them being overrun as the hordes of freshly animated tourists and retirees from Florida swept away all before them. The Outlaws fled, heading south, their bikes allowing them to keep ahead of the hordes and avoid the refugee-choked highways.
As they traveled they heard rumours that the islands in the Caribbean has somehow escaped the zombie apocalypse. They stole a yacht from the Florida Keys and set off in search of an island sanctuary.
They were wrecked off the coast of the island in a terrible storm and only four made it ashore. Their fellow Outlaws, their bikes and most of their weapons were lost to the sea. Furthermore the island was not the sanctuary they were expecting, as it too had been overrun by the zombies and descended into a barbaric fight for survival.
Luckily the Outlaws are well adapted to surviving a zombie apocalypse, and maybe even thriving. They are violent men, used to operating outside normal laws and morality. The only things that matters to them is their fellow brothers in the MC. They need to find a safe house, get some more weapons and then start looking for a way off this God-forsaken island.

Dog, the MC Pres, is the leader of the Outlaws. He is a grizzled old veteran who will stop at nothing to protect his MC.

Big (Stinky) Jeff is the MCs best mechanic, and a proficient Brawler.

Bear is the MCs enforcer. An ex-marine, his military skills are very valuable.

Sneaky Pete specialises in stealth, stealing and subversion. He would sell his own granny but he would never double-cross the MC

Home Front: Civilians and Secret Agents.

I have recently been rebasing and touching up a few figures for use with my WW2 Operation Sealion collection. Most of these figures I painted for VBCW or Pulp gaming, but are generic enough in style to be of use for the 1940/41 home front. These will be civilians (the unarmed ones) , spies, secret agents, fifth columnists and other dodgy types. I have got an idea to run a game of Black Ops for Operation Sealion, for which these figures shall come in jolly handy.

Zombtober 2018: Week 3

One day late again. And only one Zed this week too, so that is something of a poor showing. In accordance with my 'military' theme for Zomtober this year it is another soldier who has been infected by the Zombie Contagion. This one has legs and torso from the Wargames Factory/Warlord Games  sprue, with arms and head from the Studio Miniatures zombie kit.

Zombtober 2018: Week 2

Sorry again for the tardiness. This time I was waiting for it to stop raining so I could get a good photo. It hasn't stopped yet, hence the some what crappy photos.

These are two soldiers depicted in the weeks following the zombie apocalypses. They have ditched their military issue weaponry when they ran out of ammunition, and have opted for civilian weaponry, which is easier to find. They have added more pouches to their webbing as they are kept on the move by the ever present threat of the zombies.

Hope you like them...

Zombtober 2018 Week 1

It's October again so you can expect the usual Zombtober festivity. As always the idea behind zombtober is to paint at least one zombie or zom-apoc survivor each week during October, publishing a picture on the Sunday. Now as it is Tuesday it is clear that I am already a bit behind, but this is because I have been away for the weekend.

I have finished painting two Zombtober models. My theme this week is military. I am using the Wargames Factory/Warlord Games plastic special forces figures as the base for my guys. My plan is to make three soldiers or national guardsmen in the normal pre-apocalypse uniforms, three in post-apocalypse kit with improvised weapons and perhaps more civilian equipment scavenged from gun stores and alike when the own supplies stared to run out, and three who have succumb to the Contagion and become zombies.

The figures are based on the Wargames Factory plastics, with Studio Miniatures plastic zombie parts and a few bits from the Wargames Factory zombie survivors sprue. These plastics all scale very well together.

Burrows and Badgers: Fagin Mactavity and his gang of thieves

Introducing Fagin Mactavity, a notorious wild cat ne'r-do-well and rogue who, with the help of his ferret enforcer, Savage Gill, runs a gang of mice thieves. The mice serve Mactavity out of a mix of fear and awe, heading out each night on their criminal missions, returning each morning to hand over their ill gotten gains to their boss. Those who fail to bring back enough loot will answer to Savage Gill.

Gaslands Barricades

I have been making some scenery for Gaslands. Its basically 20mm scale, because that seems to work best with die-cast cars like Hot Wheels, which is the most common bases for Gaslands vehicles.

I really like Gaslands but I don't know anyone who will play it so these concrete barricades will be sold by Hazardous Terrain.

I hope you like them.

Burrows and Badgers: Herbalist's Garden

Just another Burrows and Badgers terrain piece. I actually finished this one a while ago and forgot to put it on the blog. I hope you like it.
